Memory Verse: Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Hello! Welcome! Who can remember what our lesson was about last time? Yes, Jesus is our Extreme Savior, and He has Extreme Power! By saving Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace, and He Himself being the fourth man in the fire, He showed us an amazing example of His Extreme Power.

Today, we have another example of our Extreme Savior to talk about. Jesus’s Extreme Healing! The Bible tells us many stories of how Jesus healed people. Can you think of any? (Take a few answers) Good! Those are great examples! Let me tell you about one of my favorites!

Jesus had begun His special ministry on Earth. This was the time when He was teaching about God, and doing special miracles and healing people. Because of His Extreme Power and Healing, Jesus was becoming quite well known! Many people would come to Him to be healed or to ask Him to heal a loved one.

One day, a great crowd of people had gathered around Jesus. A man came through the crowd, and walked right on up to Jesus. His name was Jairus, and he was a leader of a Synagogue (A Jewish church). Jairus fell down before Jesus! He begged Jesus to come home with him and heal his daughter.

“She is about to die!” he said. “Please come and place your hands on her and heal her, so she can live!” he begged. The Bible tells us that this was his only child, and that she was 12 years old.

Jesus followed him as they headed back to Jairus’s home. The crowd followed too. They wanted to go where Jesus went and see whatever Jesus did.

In the crowd was a woman who had been sick for 12 years! She had a hemorrhage, which meant a constant bleeding. She had been to many doctors, and had spent all her money trying to get well, but nothing had worked! In fact, the Bible says she had gotten worse, not better.

Oh how tired she was of this troubling disease. If only she could get to Jesus. She had heard about how He healed people; maybe He would heal her too. But she had a different plan in mind than to just ask Him. Maybe she was shy, or maybe she was embarrassed, but she didn’t want to ask Jesus face to face if He would heal her. Maybe she was even afraid He would say “No,” so she thought to herself, “If I just get close to Him and touch His clothing, I will be healed!”

The woman got as close to Jesus as she could, pushing her way through the crowd of people. When she came up right behind Jesus, she reached out carefully, so as not to be noticed, and quietly touched the hem of His robe.

Immediately, the bleeding stopped and she could tell that she had been healed!

Jesus, the Extreme Healer, knew also that healing power had gone out of Him. That’s because He is God, and He knows everything!

He turned around and asked, “Who touched me?”
The disciples (Jesus’s 12 special helpers & followers) thought that was a silly question! “All this crowd is pushing and pressing around you, and you ask “who touched me?”

Jesus kept on looking and waiting around for the person who touched Him to come forward. The woman was very scared! Was Jesus mad, she wondered? She came forward, trembling, and fell at Jesus’s feet. She told Him what she had done. Was He going to yell at her? Was she in trouble?

No! Jesus wasn’t mad! He is the Extreme Healer! He was glad that she was no longer sick! Jesus just wanted to tell her something special!

Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace. You have been healed!”

Oh, how happy she was!

While Jesus was talking to the woman, some messengers arrived from Jairus’s house. They had some very sad news for Jairus.

“Your daughter is dead,” they said. “There is no use troubling the Teacher now.”

Jesus heard this, and told Jairus, “Don’t be afraid. Just trust me and she will be alright.”

Jairus was so sad, but he knew that only Jesus, the Extreme Healer, could help him now. He had just seen Jesus heal the woman who had been sick for 12 years. He knew he needed to put his faith and trust in Jesus.

They all continued on to Jairus’s house. Jesus wouldn’t let anyone else go into the house except Peter, James, and John, and the little girl’s father and mother. The house was already filled with people weeping and wailing because the little girl had died.

Jesus told the people, “Stop the weeping! She isn’t dead; she is only asleep.”

The crowd of people who had been weeping, now started laughing — at Jesus! They all knew that the child had died. Jesus knew that too, but, He also knew what He was about to do!

Jesus took the little girl’s father and mother, and the three disciples into the room where the little girl was lying dead. Jesus took her hand in His, and He said to her, “Get up my child!”

Immediately her life returned to her, and she got up and walked around!

Oh how happy Jairus and his wife were! They were overwhelmed with Joy!

Jesus told them to give the little girl something to eat, and he also told them not to tell anyone what had happened. Jesus knew that most of those people would not believe yet that He was God, the Extreme Savior. They did not want to accept Him that way, sadly.

But, boys and girls, Jesus is the Extreme Savior! He doesn’t just heal people from their sicknesses, but even more important, He heals people from the sickness of sin. Sin is the bad things in our life that we do, and the Bible tells us that the wages of sin is death. This is what Jesus, the Extreme Savior, heals in all those who accept Him as their Savior. He gives us the gift of New Life; eternal life, and He cleanses us from all our sins.

Have you ever been healed in this way? Have you put your faith and trust in Jesus, the Extreme Healer, to save you from the sickness of sin? He can heal you today!
