Isaiah 9:6 declares “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”

This is a verse we hear the most at Christmastime, but this is an awe-inspiring verse that directly declares the Deity of Jesus. He is THE MIGHTY GOD! Who can deny it when they merely gaze at the starry night sky, or a beautiful mountain range, the ocean’s majesty, or into the beautiful miracle of a newborn baby?! In our heart of hearts, we know. Some may push that knowledge aside, and look to the sad explanation given to us by modern ‘science’, but inside we know. Deep down we have always known. “The Heaven’s declare the glory of God and the firmament showeth His handiwork. Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard” the psalmist says in Psalm 19:1-3.

I can look at the beautiful nature all around me and see a glimpse, a mere shadow, of The Mighty God who created it all.

My husband loves his aquarium. He sees such amazing beauty in each and every fish he adds to it, and he can tell them apart. One of the reasons he has always loved it so is that he is amazed that God put such beauty in places that most people would never see. This is so true! They are always finding new species way down deep in the ocean where no one has ever been before. And, it seems, the deeper you go, the more beautiful & amazing the fish & sea-creatures seem to get. The Mighty God created beauty where very few would ever see it, as well as so much for all of us to see. My breath can be taken away by the beauty I see all around me!

But, Jesus as ‘The Mighty God’ goes well beyond the natural beauty we see around us. It shows even more in the beauty He is creating IN us too, if we have given our hearts & lives to Him. I have personally seen His work in my life and can call Him MIGHTY GOD for what He has done, and continues to do. I am forever thankful that this Mighty God cared and loved a little 12 year old girl that He would make Himself known to her. That He invited me to walk with Him in friendship & fellowship absolutely awes me and humbles me, but it excites me too!

Jesus IS The Mighty God, and The Mighty God is my personal Friend. Is He yours?
